Twice each day LESVIGAL collects milk from 800 farmers, via ten milk collection points scattered across the island. The milk is chilled in isothermal vats and taken the same day to the company’s facilities, to be turned into cheese. But first of all it undergoes exhaustive chemical and microbiological testing using state-of-the-art equipment at the LESVIGAL laboratory – the only one on the island with its own self-inspection code from the Greek Milk and Meat Agency.

True to its commitment to safe, quality products, LESVIGAL has implemented a food safety management system for its new facilities, continuing and developing the HACCP system in use at the old plant. Its tireless efforts to improve quality were rewarded in the same year with TUV HELLAS certification, ISO 22000:2005, with the private IFS protocol. Far from resting on its laurels, the company then went on to anticipate future developments in the sector by securing certification under the private BRC protocol.
